Machining

Thanks to its low carbon content, Toolox has an excellent machinability.

 

Toughness

Low carbon content and very high cooling rates are the main reasons why Toolox is 2-3 times tougher than comparable steels of similar hardness. The high hardness, in combination with excellent toughness ensures lower tool wear and high output levels when the tool is in service.

 

Fatigue

Thanks to the high cleanliness of alloying elements, the surface is highly glossy after machining, which also increases its fatigue-resistance. In of applications where greater hardness is required due to wear resistance, Toolox may be nitrided, applied through PVD coating. Toolox may also be used with applications where working temperatures up to 592°C are required.
