Machining

Toolox has excellent machinability due to its low carbon content.

Toughness

The low carbon content and high cooling rate during quenching are the main reasons why Toolox is 2 – 3 times harder than comparable steel of similar hardness. Compared to standard steels, the high hardness combined with high toughness ensures less wear and a longer service life.

Fatigue

Due to the high purity of the alloying elements, the surface is highly glossy after machining, resulting in increased fatigue resistance. In applications where increased surface hardness is required for durability, Toolox can be nitrided with a PVD coating. Toolox can also be used in applications where temperatures up to 592°C are involved.
